Located in Guadalupe County, Texas, Marion is small city situated in the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, Marion has a population of approximately 1,066 people as of 2010.

Marion was originally a camp for railroad workers. In 1877, a townsite was laid out following the arrival of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway. The city is named in honor of Marion Dove. Joshua Young, Dove’s grandfather, owned a plantation that was constructed over by the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway.
