Schertz, Texas is a large city located in Bexar, Comal and Guadalupe counties. The city had a population of approximately 34,883 people in 2012 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Schertz is the third largest city within the San Antonio and New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Schertz’s first settlers arrived around 1843. The city is named in honor of one of the original families that settled in the city. The first school in Schertz was constructed in 1890 and the second school, a bricked building, was constructed in 1917. Since the 1990s, Schertz experienced significant growth in its population size.

There are several things to see and do in Schertz. The city hosts several community events such as the Wilenchik Walk for Life, an annual one-day jazz festival, the Schertz Sweetheart Pageant and the Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee. In addition to hosting several exciting annual events, Schertz is also focused on building a strong and vibrant community. The city is home to several city parks and shopping centers that help provide its residents aimed at providing its residents with the best quality of life.
